Randy was born in North Carolina on March 14, 1963 and welcomed into the loving home of William and Magnolia Vaughan soon after. Later that year, the Vaughan’s moved from North Carolina to New Brunswick, New Jersey. He went through the New Brunswick public school system and in his high school years enjoyed being on the Track Team and Football Team. After graduating high school, he held multiple jobs (sometimes simultaneously), including working at Krauszer’s, One Way Bible Book Store and Selling Kirby Vacuum Cleaners to name a few. He also find time to coach baseball for a few years as well.
On January 20, 1988, he met Maria Thomasina Matthews at Attilio’s Pizza Restaurant in North Brunswick and would often tell people that he used line #79 and just reeled her in! They were married the following year on March 11, 1989, starting their new life of adventure together.
Randy had many interests including biblical studies, drawing and occasionally playing (plucking) at his electric guitar. He also liked to entertain friends with Magic Tricks from time-to-time but his real passion was writing books. He like to write biblical books and other genre both fiction and non-fiction. He self-published the Christian Pocket Reference Guide for which he spent an extensive time on research. He also dabbled with web designing and if you needed help with updating your resume, he’d help you with that too!
Randy could talk to anyone and would talk to everyone as he was never a “respecter of persons”, which is one of the things that made him so endearing. He would hold meaningful conversations at great lengths at a time. He had a knack for seeing the potential in a person and would consistently encourage that gift to make sure you reached your potential and didn’t give up! (One of his favorite quotes was from the movie, “The Shawshank Redemption” which was ‘Get busy living or get busy dying’.)
In September of 2014, Randy decided he wanted to complete a bucket list item by becoming a Stand-up Comedian which he did for a couple of years before his health started to decline.
Randy passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, NJ at the age of 62.
Randy was predeceased by his parents William & Magnolia Vaughan, his Father & Mother-in-Love, Thomas & Mary Matthews and his Sister-in-Love, Sylvia McCloud. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his loving wife of almost 37 years, Maria, his Aunt Jeanette Hooper, Cousins Carla, Tony and Tia, Nephew, Barry McCloud, Jr., Nieces, Kiersten and Kiara McCloud, Godson, Darryl Howard II, Chase Hamilton (who became like a son), Sisters, Ida Bell Freeman (Randy), Kimberly Stowers, Brothers, Steve and Derrick Stowers and a great host of friends that he considered family!
