Pearl Bernard who was born on September 12, 1947 has now Transitioned on, leaving us December 4th 2025.

One of many siblings, daughter to Isabelle and Georgie Bernard, Pearl was born and raised on the Caribbean island of Jamaica from a Parrish called Hopewell, Hanover. From early on she carried a heart of Gold. Giving of herself endlessly with pure intentions, nuturing, kind and deeply devoted to her family and her marriage with late husband Luis Mortlock.

Living life as a devoted Catholic, who proudly professed her love for Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother Mary. Prayer was essential to her life. She prayed with unwavering faith for everyone she knew, regardless of relationship.

Pearl served as a dedicated Registered Nurse/LPN for a long career well over 45 years. Marked by care, strength, and commitment to others, she retired from Raritian Valley Health facility. Nursing was not just her profession—it was apart of who she was.

Speaking of who she was, Her personality was both fiery and soft. She was choosy, refined, and carried herself with grace. Loved luxury and high-end quality with an eye for fashion. Her presence couldn’t be ignored. When Pearl entered a room, she was felt with a look to match.

Most importantly she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—reading, watching the news, gardening, solving word searches, visiting the casino, and sitting outside surrounded by nature. And yes, she loved her some Money!—something she spoke proudly and humorously about.

Pearl Bernard leaves behind her beloved daughter, Patricia Mortlock and her treasured grandchildren, Stefan, Stayana, and Yanick, along with her bonus grandson, Deon. She is also survived by few siblings, nieces/ nephews, great grandchildren, grandnieces/grandnephews and other valued family members and friends who were blessed by her presence. She was a major force in the family, and her loss is deeply felt.

We will remember her for her faith, strength, generosity, elegance, and unmatched spirit. Pearl you will be missed, but your legacy of love and prayer will live on through our family forever.

2 Corinthians 5:8:

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be with the Lord."
