Mia Alani Lewis

Mia Alani Lewis was born on May 8, 2026, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. Though her time on earth was far too short, her life was filled with extraordinary love and touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.

From before she was born, Mia showed us her incredible strength. Even in the womb, she made her presence known, kicking with determination and reminding us that she had a fighting spirit all her own. She was lovingly known by many names. To Mommy, she was “Boss.” To Daddy, she was “Miracle.” And to her big brother Mason, she was simply “Princess.”

Mia had the sweetest personality. She was feisty, expressive, and full of determination. She had a way of letting everyone know exactly how she felt through her precious facial expressions and the wave of her tiny hands and arms. She was incredibly alert and would quietly follow the people she loved with her beautiful eyes.

One of Mommy’s greatest joys was holding Mia close, feeling her warmth, and reminding her every day just how deeply she was loved. Each morning began with a special song sung to Mia and her brothers—a tradition that started while they were still growing safely in the womb and continued every day of her life.

Although her journey was brief, Mia’s impact will last a lifetime. She taught her family about courage, perseverance, unconditional love, and the precious value of every single moment. She leaves behind a legacy far greater than the number of days she spent with us.

Mia was preceded in death by her grandfather, Corey Lewis Sr.; her great-grandmother, Maude Baltimore; great-grandfathers Robert Lewis Sr. and Richard Thomas, her great-uncles, Marcell Myrick Sr., Marcell Lewis, and Timothy Lewis; along with a host of other beloved family members who welcomed her into eternal peace.

Mia is lovingly survived by her parents, Tyana and Marques-Aquil Lewis Sr.; her twin brother, Marques-Aquil Lewis Jr. (“MJ”); her big brother, Mason; her grandparents, Jermayne Tims, Taibu Thomas (Tamara), and Aquila Stevens; her great-grandmothers, Minnie Allen, Rose Womack, and Henrietta Myrick; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who loved and prayed for her throughout her life.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Mia was surrounded by immeasurable love every moment of her life. She will forever remain our miracle, our princess, our boss, and our beloved daughter.
