Lawrence J. Chigi Sr., 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Born on November 28, 1945, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Lawrence grew up in the area and spent much of his life in Bound Brook, Somerset, and Bridgewater, New Jersey, where he built a life rooted in hard work and family.

A dedicated truck driver for most of his career, Lawrence was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. In his later working years, he proudly drove a recycling truck for Somerset County, contributing to his community in a practical, hands-on way.

In his younger days, Lawrence embraced adventure, he loved scuba diving and was an active member of black powder gun clubs, enjoying the thrill and camaraderie those pursuits brought.

Above all, Lawrence was remembered for his upbeat, irreverent sense of humor that could lighten any room. He was a hard worker who never shied away from putting in the effort, and even as Alzheimer's gradually dimmed his memories, the warmth and spirit he shared with those closest to him remained unforgettable.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Chigi; his son, Lawrence Chigi Jr.; and his extended family and friends who were touched by his life.

He was predeceased by his father, George Chigi Sr., and his mother, Elsie Chigi.

A private burial at sea will take place off the coast of California, in keeping with his wishes. No public services are planned at this time.
