Gary Cherry Tillman

Gary Cherry Tillman was born on May 28, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio. He was raised in Steubenville, Ohio before moving to New Jersey in the late 80's. Gary was educated in the Steubenville Public School System.

Gary found employment at UMDNJ and as a Construction Craft Laborer where he began working in September 2011 until he retired.

Those that knew him, may remember Gary for many things, like his love of all sports, particularly football and baseball. His good barbecue especially his “G Burgers” and his love of music, like his favorites The Temptations, anything Motown, the Chi-lites, Stylistics and of course James Brown, just to name a few.

Gary was predeceased by his mother Hazel Jane Tillman, father Walter Cherry Tillman, and brother Thomas Tillman. Gary is survived by his life partner of 23 years Jeanne, sisters Precious of Columbus, GA, Terry of Steubenville, OH, Shantel and a brother Jerry Tillman of Steubenville, OH, a daughter Nikiya Mindy and step-daughter Marya Willis of New Brunswick, NJ. Gary leaves to cherish his memory 7 grandchildren, two of which he called his best friends, Gavin and Evan Walker. As well as aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will forever hold him in their memories.
